Deep Learning - Theorie und Praxis (Modellierung II)

Instructors: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Michael Wand
Shortname: 08.079.318
Course No.: 08.079.318
Course Type: Vorlesung/Übung

Requirements / organisational issues

This lecture assumes that the concepts taught in the course "Modelling 1" are known, as well as basic concepts from machine learning (we will only do a very brief recap in the first lecture).

Digital teaching

Further information will be provided on the webpage of the course:

Contents

This lecture addresses the theory of deep learning: We still do not know why it works so well. In order to make progress towards a better understanding, we will look at the concept of generalization and model selection and then look at approaches that make networks more accessible by tangent-linear approximations (NTK, Gaussian-process-approximations). The course will include a short introduction to the practical aspects of deep learning.
